What is Demonology?
Demonology is the systematic study of demons or beliefs about demons.
What does a demonologist do?
Demonologists not only study demons and related topics, they also try to hone the ability to catalog, summon, communicate with, and banish demons.
What is cataloging a demon?
Cataloging demons entails documenting the names, characteristics, speech, origin, history, and motivation of any demonic entity that a demonologist may come across.
Are there different types of demons?
There are 6 types of demons that are commonly documented by demonologists.
- Fire - Resides in our upper atmosphere, and is responsible for the supervision of the other five types of demons.
- Aerial - Live in the air, considered the most dangerous.
- Terrestrial - Nature devil, they live in the forest.
- Aqueous - Live in lakes, oceans, rivers.
- Subterranean - Live in caves.
- Heliophobic - Has a fear of light, possibly where vampire legends evolved from.
Some Demonologists classify the following paranormal entities as demons as well:
- Fates - Control and alter the future
- Succubi - Seduce men and steal their life force
- Incubi - Seduce women and steal their life force
- Poltergeists - Cause mischief
- Familiars - Assist Witches
These beings were grouped with demons by Spanish Franciscan Catholic Bishop Alphonso de Spina in the 1400′s, but modern demonologists differentiate between these entities and demons.
